Torn Sky

Good morning.

This is just a first draft as I write, but the photographer’s public awaits and it is a busy day for me coming up so I better get a little done before I get locked in. And we have a nice new theme to work with, which will help. The torn sky.

“These moments are gods way of being first.” -Mitch

Sunrise has this effect, I think. One part of the sky can be glowing while the rest still thinks it is night. And South Florida gets credit, too, for heavy weather at sunrise. It is never like that up here on the Jersey shore.

Not sure if this was the one that first made me feel like God had gotten impatient with the clouds and torn them to let there be light.

There were many, I will sort through them and find the one….ah, this below must be the one.

Or this.

But, no, it must have been the one before. I remember being struck by the jagged line separating the darkness of night from the blazing sky behind.

Sometimes it is just a hole in the night.

And now we turn to another of Mitch’s themes, to see what he has done lately sampling some anonymous sculptor’s work.

Perfect flare. But the next two remind us of the power of story that people bring to a backdrop.

Who is he? Where is he going? We see an exercise monitor and a purposeful stride…morning workout? This next one may be easier.

I said “anonymous” then thought to go googling “For Lauderdale bicycle sculpture”. All I found was someone selling this starting at $19.99.

Really? I prefer Mitch, he works to get a shot. Or three.

“Light gently touching sky bringing a new moment to lift the spirit, and warm the soul.” -Mitch

That tree is a favorite of Mitch’s, sampling a higher artist.

Speaking of threes, not sure what is going on, but I found three cameo gems for this curation.

That is as big as it gets.

We can cross-index under the bi-chromal theme. Love the composition.

A different quality setting? A different camera? I asked, have not heard back.

Here is something from one of Mitch’s oldest themes, sunrise reflected in the lifeguard station glass door. I threw this in because it came with some commentary I must go back and find…got it.

“My latest experiment. It’s hard to get a really [good] looking sunrise on dirty glass.” -Mitch

An old theme, but Mitch also did something new capturing the whole station.

I thought it was the Parthenon for a moment.

Mitch cultivated a couple of the newer themes, as well. The minarets…

..and what we will call “street corner sky”. I did not notice until now Mitch had made a rare request. I just liked it.

“Here’s one that goes in.” -Mitch

Refreshing brightness and just a touch of BirdFlight…

“The birds fly way up in the sky.” -Mitch

Now the day job beckons, so I leave you with the man himself.

Mitch at work.

ps. I was going to leave out the next, but our artist rarely directs, so we oblige. Mitch opined the lizard had just swiped the bird’s egg and come full circle.

“Add the dead lizard with the egg to the animal collection” -Mitch
